تدور أحداث الرواية بين بلدين متعاديين ، أحدهما بلد مسلم ، وتختار الروائية الشخصيات الرئيسية التي تتمحور عليها روايتها من الدولة غير المسلمة ، وتدور أحداث الرواية بحيوية وحراك تنقلك فيه الكاتبة إلى الأجواء التي يعيشها هؤلاء الثلاثة ، كبشر أولاً ، ثم كأعداء ثانياً . إن المهارة التي تبديها الروائية في سبر أغوار النفس البشرية في حالة تمحورها حول فكرة معينة لا تتبدل في ثباتها وقناعاتها إلا عندما تواجه الحقيقة ماثلة بوضوح لا لبس فيه . ولا تصل بطلة الرواية إلى القناعة بالآخر إلا بعد أن تفقد أعز الناس عليها ، فيكون هذا الفقد بتدبيرها وبيديها مما يرقى بالمأساة إلى ذروتها وهي تصور اهتزاز قناعاتها القديمة وانكشاف الستار عن الحقيقة التي تأخذ بها ، ولكن بعد أن تدفع الثمن غالياً ، وغالياً جداً . الرواية من النوع الذي تستغرقك أحداثها وشخصياتها ، وحتى الأمكنة تبدو في الرواية كأنها واحدة من أبطالها. والكاتبة التي تهوى الرسم تثري الرواية بثلاث عشرة لوحة تتعلق بالرواية وأحداثها.
