"لقد كانت تعيش انفصالاً صامتًا مع نفسها، بعدما أدركت أنّ الزّمن قد غيّرها، وصارت تشعر باللاشيء، تلك الحالة كفيلة بأن تجعلها متيّقظة لأن تتلقّى كلماته بشيء من الصّخب القاتل والقول المميت، لأنّها بكل بساطة تعاني الحب، لكنّها لن تبكي، لقد اكتفت من البكاء…. لقد بكت عمرها السّابق كلّه، ولا يمكنها أن تعرض نقاط ضعفها له، كان يجب أن يدرك منذ البداية أنّها مختلفة عن النّساء كلّهن، وأنّه لا يمكن أن يساوم على حبّها مهما طال الزّمان، فهي ملكته وهي الّتي رأته كلّ شي في حياتها، وهي الّتي حلمت بأن تكون العمر كلّه معه، وطفلهما الصّغير بينهما، كم كانت أحلامها حمقاء!"
