لا شك أن التصميم الجيد أساس لكل عمل فني مهما احتوى هذا العمل على المهارة الأدائية، والتي لا تبعث الرضا التام وحدها بدون تلك اللمسات الجمالية والأداء الوظيفي المتكامل.
إن القصد من التصميم... هو الإبداع والخلق لأعمال جميلة ممتعة ونافعة -وهو الخطة الكاملة لتشكيل شيء ما وتركيبه في قالب موحد ليس من الناجية الجمالية فحسب بل من الناحية الوظيفية والأدائية أيضاً.

وقد تناول هذا الكتاب "التصميم الداخلي" من عدة وجوه، كنظام أساسي لوضع التصميم -والمشروع المعين.
وقد أوضح هذا الكتاب... المعالجات الفعلية لبعض المشكلات والقيود -وهي الناشئة عن العلاقات المتداخلة للأفكار المختلفة للمشروع أو التصميم، كذلك أوضح بالشرح والتحليل الحقائق الثابتة التي تشترك فيها مختلف التصميمات والأعمال الداخلية والتي تعتبر عاملاً مهماً في تحقيق الوحدة المتكاملة للتصميم.
وإضافة إلى ذلك فقد تناول الكتاب أيضاً مبادئ التصميم وأساليبه واعتماده على الخامات والمواد المختلفة وكذلك على المكان وإمكانياته، كتوزيع الأثاث بداخله مثلاً -ونوعه وطرازه... الخ.
كما تناول الكتاب أيضاً بعض الأمثلة كنماذج معينة لبعض التصميمات الداخلية المنزلية مجزأة حسب الأولويات التصميمية للمشروع من المسقط الأفقي وتوزيع الأثاث بداخله إلى رسم الحوائط ثم إلى الأثاث وأسلوب تصميمه وطرق رسمه وإظهاره بالإضافة إلى المنظور الداخلي وطرق رسمه... الخ. علاوة على الخصائص التصميمية للغرب المختلفة وأثاثها اللازم حسب استعمالها.
وأخيراً فقد أوضح هذا الكتاب أيضاً شرحاً في أساسيات التنسيق المنزلي وتعليمات ضرورية في تصميم الديكور الداخلي المتنوع، مقسمة إلى إحدى عشر موضوعاً مختلفاً في التصميم وأسلوبه وأصوله.
