بونسون دو ترايل: روائي فرنسي، معروف بكتاباته في أدب المغامرات.
ولد ألكس بونسون دو ترايل عام ١٨٢٩م، بمدينة مونمارتر الفرنسية. عُرف بإنتاجه الأدبي الغزير، فقد أنتج ثلاثة وسبعين مجلدًا خلال عشرين عامًا. تنتمي أعماله الروائية المبكرة إلى الأدب القوطي، وعندما بدأ في كتابة «سلسلة روكامبول» قام بنشرها في جريدة يومية، وهي سلسلة من القصص المنتمي لأدب الغموض والمغامرة، وقد مَثلت هذه السلسلة تحوله من الأدب القوطي إلى الأدب البطولي الحداثي.
وقد توفي بونسون دو ترايل عام ١٨٧١م.

رواية «روكامبول» هي مجموعة قصصية ألَّفها الروائيُّ بونسون دي ترايل، وهي سلسلة تُجسِّد أحداثُها الصراعَ القِيَمِيَّ الأبديَّ بين الخير والشر، والعدل والظلم. وتتنوع شخصيات هذه القصص بين الفرسان المُقدِمين أصحاب البطولات، والفتيات الفاتنات، والمجرمين الأنذال، والكهنة والوعَّاظ. ومن الجدير بالذكر أن هذا النوع من القصص لاقى نجاحًا كبيرًا في فرنسا في القرن التاسع عشر، وهي قِصص مشوِّقة للغاية، كُتِبت على طراز «شيرلوك هولمز» و«أرسين لوبين»، استطاع المؤلف من خلالها أن يصل بقُرَّائه إلى أقصى أنواع المتعة والتسلية؛ لدرجة أنه حين توقَّف عن إصدار سلسلتها طالَبَه القرَّاءُ باستكمالها مرة أخرى. وقد ترجمها «طانيوس عبده» إلى العربية ترجمةً لا تقِلُّ في تشويقها عن الأصل الفرنسي. كم من جرائم تُرتكَب باسم الحب، ذلك القدر الذي لا يستطيع أحد الهروب منه، وكم من ضحايا يسقطون في براثنه. لم يقترف «ديك هارمون» إثمًا سوى أنه أحب «ألن» ابنة اللورد «بالمير»؛ تلك الفتاة الجميلة الغنية، التي أوهمَتْه بحبِّها، وحين لم يستطع وَصْلَها مات شوقًا لها. وعندما حاولت الفرار بجريمتها منعها «روكامبول»؛ فاستغلها لينفِّذ بعض مخطاطته، فحاولت الانتقام منه وأقنعته بأنها تحبه، ليحدث ما لم تُحمَد عقباه، فقد ساقته إلى السجن، وسلَّمَتْه إلى ألد أعدائه الأسقف «بترس توين»، غير أن الأمور لم تنتهِ هكذا، فقد وقعت «ألن» فى المحظور وذاقت نار الحب عندما أحَبَّتْ روكامبول، ولكن السؤال: هل أحبها روكامبول بالفعل؟
