ريكاردو بيجليا (1941-2017): روائي وقاص وناقد وأكاديمي من الأرجنتين.
وهو أحد أبرز أدباء اللغة الإسبانية في النصف الثاني من القرن العشرين.
أصدر ما يزيد عن عشرين كتابا بين الرواية والقصة والدراسات النقدية.
عمل في تدريس الأدب بعدد من الجامعات في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية.
وحصل على العديد من الجوائز الأدبية منها: جائزة بلانيطا الأرجنتينية، الجائزة الإيبيرية-الأمريكية للآداب، جائزة رومولو جاييجوس وجائزة فومينتور.

القارئ، مثل مَنْ يفكّ الشفرة، مثل المترجم، كان، في أحيان كثيرة، محض استعارة وأليجورية للمثقّف. فصورة مَنْ يقرأ تمثّل جزءًا من بنية صورة المثقّف بالمعنى الحديث. ليس كأديب فحسب، إنما كشخص يواجه العالم في علاقة تواسط مبدئية، في نوع محدّد من المعرفة. القراءة تتوظّف كنموذج عامّ لبنية المعنى. وتردُّد المثقّف يمثّل دومًا عدم اليقين في التأويل، في القراءات الكثيرة الممكنة للنّصّ. ثمّة توتّر بين فعل القراءة وفعل السياسة. ثمّة تعارض ضمني بين القراءة والقرار، بين القراءة والحياة العملية. هذا التّوتّر بين القراءة والتجربة، بين القراءة والحياة، نجده شديد الحضور في الحكاية التي نحاول تشييدها. وأحيانًا كثيرة يكون ما قرأناه هو الفلتر الذي يسمح بمنح معنى للتجربة. القراءة هي مرآة التجربة، هي التي تُعرّفها، وتصيغها».
