روايَةُ ( مَنَامُ الظِّلِّ ) تُشبهُ الواقِعَ في تشظِّيه، وعبثيَّته في آنٍ، وهيَ تَدخل جهنم ما اصطلح على تسميته الجهاديَّةُ القِتاليَّةُ، أو ما نسَمِّيه – نَحنُ الواقفين على الجانب الآخر – الإرهاب المُسَلُّحَ.
والرِّوايةُ لا تعنى بهذا الموقف أنَّها تتابع هؤلاء في مشهد واقعي؛ بل هي تلجأ إلى "كادر" عامٍّ يَدْخُلُ فيه الخيالُ والمتخيل، وكأننا نطل على ما يُشبهُ ليالي "ألف ليلة"، فَتقُولُ كلمتها باختصار: هؤلاء القتلة يُقيمون بيننا؛ هُمْ متغلغلون في كل مكان؛ ترانا نتعامل معهم ونُبادِلُهم التحية والحديث، وربما يجمع بيننا وبينهم تعاملات حياتية، دون أن ننهرهم، أو نجرو على مناقشة أفكارهم؛ وذلك إنما يرجع إلى تحالف "مصلحي" بين الفساد والرجعية؛ هذا باختصارٍ ما تَوَدُّ أن تنبهنا إليه (منام الظلِّ).
