هو عبد العزيز زكريا علي المصري، الشهير بـ"عزيز المصري"، وهو أشهر ثائر عرفته مصر في تاريخها الحديث، وكانت فصول حياته ملحمةً وطنيَّة تُجَسَّدُ مفهوم الثورة والثائر، قدَّم الفريق عزيز باشا المصري الكثيرَ لمعظم الأقطار العربية في كفاحها للحصول على الاستقلال في مطلع القرن العشرين، وسانَدَ الثورةَ العربية في مواجهة الاحتلال العثماني، وهو – على هذا- "أبوالثوار العرب"، ورغم ندرة مصادر البحث للوقوف على سرد تفصيلي شامل لسيرة الرجل، فإن محمد السيد صالح ظلَّ ينقَّب كثيرًا، واقتفى سيرة الرجل المتناثرة بين مصادر منسية ومجهولة لا تضم سوي شذرات من سيرته، كما أنه قام بمغامرات ميدانية، وحصل على شهادات حية؛ ليقدم لنا سيرة تفصيلة غنيَّة تكشف عن جوانب مجهولة ومنسية ومثيرة في حياة الرجل، وقد أخذت هذه السيرةُ الجامعةُ والحيَّةُ أيضاً طابعَ التوثيق والتحليل والسرد الدرامي، وتضيف للتاريخ كثيرًا، وتقدم سيرة مكتملة الأوصاف والتفاصيل لـ "أبو الثوار".
كان "عزيز المصرى" قريبًا من الزعيم جمال عبد الناصر ومن أنور السادات، بل إنهما، ومعهما عدد من مجلس قيادة الثورة –قبيل 23 يوليو- عرضوا عليه أن يكون زعيمًا لهم، ورفض؛ لظروف سنَّه، لكنه ظلَّ على دعمه لهم، بل ورشَّح لهم محمد نجيب لقيادة الثورة، وكان عزيز المصري هو الذي نصح الضباط الأحرار بأن يتركوا الملك فاروق وشأنه، ورأى أن محاكمة الملك ستؤدَّي إلى انتكاسات، ونصح بخروجه كملك، وألا تُلَوَّث ثورتهم بدماء أي إنسان، وصولاً إلى نهاية علاقته مع عبد الناصر ورفاقه، إلى أن لقي ربه في 15 يونيو 1965، ودُفِنَ في مقبرته التي بناها لنفسه في مقابر الخفير، وانطلق محمد السيد صالح ليخوض مغامرة الوصول إلى مقبرة الرجل، مستعينًا بباحث متخصَّص في الجبَّانات المملوكية"، وبالأهالي الذين يعيشون في المقابر(المجاورين)، ولجأ إلى أكثر من "تُرَبِي"، وإلى كُبَرائهم في المهنة، وتواصَل مع قسم شرطة الجمالية، ولكن لم يمكنه الوصول إلى مقبرة "عزيز المصري"، ولاحظ أن إهمالاً لهذه المنطقة، وغيابًا للدولة، حيث مقابر العظماء، من أمثال: طلعت حرب، وعمر مكرم – في قبضة "التُرَبِيَّة".
