ما بين مقابر القاهرة وفضاءات النمسا تجرى تلك الروح هائمة، محاطة بسياج كثيف من الكراهية، يصل إلى حد اللعنة، التى تمتد لتشمل كل من يحيط بها أو يقترب منها الدائرة تنطلق من هناك من عند أمها وصولا إلى : ابوها ، زوجها، عشيقها، الكل داخل فى دائرة الكراهية الملعونة واللعنة الكريهة، البعض يدفع ثمنا لما ارتكب، والبعض لا يعرف لماذا يتعرض لهذا الألم؟ وأي فاتورة يسدد؟
الرواية نموذج فريد للجراة الفكرية والفنية والأخلاقية، التى لا تستسلم لفكرة المسكوت عنه، بل هى تنتهك الخباء لتكشف ما وراءه: خباء التقاليد، ولا تتستر بمسوح البراءة ولا تدعي المثالية، بل هى تمارس فن الصدمات الفكرية وكأنها تهز نسق الثوابت الراسخة الراكدة، لتصير فى الأذهان سؤالا فى إثر سؤال.
البناء الفنى محكم لا يفتقر إلى التشويق الذي يجعل القارىء يلهث، محاولا اللحاق بإيقاع الرواية المراوغ.
اللغة تنساب برشاقة دون ان تمثل عائقا فى سبيل انسياب ماء الرواية فى مجاريه.
الجرأة لا تقف عند حدود الأفكار المطروحة، بل تتجاوزها إلى الأحاسيس غير المألوفة التى تزلزل كيان قارئها كما زلزلت كيان بطلة العمل فوصلت بها إلى حال من اللامبالاة لا يملكون تصورها.
