يرى فان ريبروك أننا نحيا في أوقات خطيرة تشهد إهتماما متزايدا بالسياسة في الوقت الذي يتراجع فيه الإيمان , ويقول أيضا إن " متلازمة الإعياء الديمقراطي هي إضطراب لم يوصف بعد بشكل كامل , لكنها هي ما تعاني منه العديد من المجتمعات المغربية بالتأكيد " .
