جان كريستوف روفان (بالفرنسية: Jean-Christophe Rufin )، (ولد في 28 حزيران / يونيه 1952) طبيب فرنسي، دبلوماسي, مؤرخ، رحالة وروائي. يرأس منظمة "العمل ضد الجوع" ، هو من أقدم أعضاء منظمة أطباء بلا حدود ، وأصغر عضو في الأكاديمية الفرنسية. شغل منصب سفير فرنسا في السنغال من عام 2007 إلى حزيران / يونيه 2010.
الحياة الخاصة والعامة
ولد روفان في بورجيز في عام 1952. وحيداً لأبويه، تربى على يد جده لأن والده كان قد ترك الأسرة وكانت والدته تعمل في باريس. جده كان طبيباً وعضواً في المقاومة الفرنسية خلال الحرب العالمية الثانية وسجن لمدة سنتين في بوخنفالد.

في أواخر القرن السابع عشر، يسافر بونسيه طبيب الأعشاب الفرنسيّ؛ ليعيش في القاهرة، أحد مراكز تحالفٍ غير معهودٍ بين السلطنة العثمانيّة وبين إحدى الممالك الأوروبيّة: فرنسا.
وعلى الرغم من عمله في الخفاء؛ لعدم امتلاكه شهادةً قانونيّة، فإنّ شهرته تصل إلى القنصل الفرنسيّ الذي يجد فيه الشخص الأمثل لقيادة سفارةٍ سريّةٍ من الملك الفرنسيّ إلى النجاشيّ ملك الحبشة، مهمّتها المُعلنة علاجُ النجاشيّ، في حين أنّها تسعى إلى استعادة السيطرة الفرنسيّة-الكاثوليكيّة على الحبشة، في زمن الصراعات الدينيّة والتوسّعيّة التي تخوضها الممالك الأوروبيّة فيما بينها.
وسرعان ما يكتشف بونسيه أنّ الظروف الاستثنائيّة لرحلته في تحقيق أهداف ملك فرنسا والبابا، هي –وحْدها- الحلّ للعقبات الاستثنائيّة التي تفصله عمّن يُحبّ.
في عمله الحائز جائزة غونكور للرواية الأولى، وجائزة البحر المتوسّط، لا يكتفي روفان بعرض وقائعَ تاريخيّةٍ، بلْ ينقلنا معه في رحلةٍ زاخرةٍ بالحياة بين أحياء القاهرة، وجبال الحبشة، وقصور فرنسا؛ ليروي مغامرةً مثيرةً عن الحُبّ، والصداقة، والتضحية في عصرٍ ممتلئٍ بالصراعات، والمؤامرات، والخيانات.
