يكشف هذا الكتاب عن جهود أبرز عالم وقاضى نجدي في عهد الدولة السعودية الأولى والثانية الشيخ العلامة عثمان بن منصور (ت 1282هـ/1865م) الذي جمع بين العلوم الشرعية والإنسانية فأصبح مساهمًا في حركة نشاطها، وفي كثير من جوانبها الإنسانية على وجه خاص بحيث شملت آثاره التنوع والإثراء المعرفي في مؤلفاته وكتاباته وآرائه الشرعية وبين تدوينه ونقله وحفظه لتاريخ وأنساب منطقته النجدية، بالإضافة إلى تحصِّله على نوادر التراث الإسلامي والتي تسابق العلماء من الحصول عليها بعد وفاته.
يقدم هذا الكتاب - المتمثل بصورته الخطية والمصورة - ما يعرف بــــ الثبت وهو ما يُثبتُ فيه المحدث مسموعة مع أسماء المشاركين له فيه، لأنه كالحجة عند الشخص لسماعه وسماع غيره؛ كأول مدونه وثبت حديثى كامل لعالم نجدي في الدولة السعودية - بعد العالم المحقق عثمان بن قائد النجدي (ت1097هـ/1685م) - يصل إلينا كاملًا مشمولًا بإجازاته العلمية وسماعاته وأسانيده الحديثية لعدد من شيوخه وزملائه مع ذكر بعض مصنفاتهم من علماء الأمصار في العالم الإسلامي.
يأتي هذا الكتاب مصدرًا مهمًا لتراجم العلماء وطلاب العلم وأسماء علماء نجد الأعلام بالإضافة إلى عدد من علماء الأحساء والحجاز وغيرهم ولاسيما في القرن العاشر الهجري وكاشفًا من خلاله مدى جهودهم وعنايتهم وبذلهم لخدمة السنة النبوية.
