أن يقدِّم الروائي صورة واقعية مغموسة بخيالة بسلاسة وأريحية، ويقنعنا بها دون أن يعبث بنا الملل لهي قدرة خاصة وفريدة لا يجيدها إلّا ندرة من الكتّاب، هؤلاء الكتّاب متمرِّسون على السرد بكل تبعاته، القاصّ والروائي فالح الصغير واحد من هؤلاء حيث كشفَ لنا بعد تمرُّس ودراية بكتابة النصوص القصيرة قدرته أيضًا على تقديم نصٍّ سردي طويل بعنوان "يمرون بالظهران"، هذا العنوان الذي وفِّق أيّما توفيق باقتنائه بمهارة ألقى علينا بإيحاءاته الخاصّة ليصبح علامة فارقة وبوابة مميزة نلجُ من خلالها إلى عمق النص، الذي يتكئ على مخزون معرفي وتجارب عميقة استطاع الكاتب بخبراته الكتابية صَهْرها مع خياله السردي ليسكب لنا بهذه الحمولة الروائية التي لا مجال للتحايل عليها، كما يفعل بعض النقّاد حينما لا يجدون في النص سوى مجموعة خواطر لا تساعدهم في تسطير رؤية نقدية مبتذلة لذلك يحملونها على ما اصطُلح عليه "رواية ما بعد الحداثة"، للخلاص من ورطتهم بها.
يمرون بالظهران استأثرت بإهتمام القراء بجزئها الأول الذي طُبع أكثر من مرّة، وهو هنا يواصل رحلة الشخوص المارّين على الظهران ليُعيدهم من خلال تجاذبات سردية نفسية إلى أماكنهم الأولى مستعيداً أسماء المواقع التي كانت أن تغيب عن الذاكرة وتصبح نسياً منسياً، فمن الظهران إلى "غميتة" مركز الأحداث الطارئة على الشخصيات ومنها تتوالد الحارات المتاخمة "الصالحية" و"البطحاء" و"الحراج" وهنا تتحدَّد ملامح الشخصيات "بروهما" و"أبو غانم" و"أبو السكاكين" و"عياش".
عبر هذه الشخوص والمكان ينثال البوح بصور جلية وتتحدَّد ملامح الأفكار وكينونة الإنسان التي تغوص في عمق الفلسفي والسياسي، وعبر حواريات كاريكاتورية يرتسمُ المشهد بلغة سلسلة تخلو من أيّ تعقيد ليصل بنا إلى العلاقة الروحية والنفسية من خلال تبادل الرسائل أو "المكاتيب" التي تكشف أنّ ذاك الإنفصال المكاني لم يكن قادراً على إجتثاث الناس من عاداتهم وتقاليدهم إذ لا يلبثون يعودون إلى مراتعهم الأولى ومساقط رؤوسهم بعد إنقضاء حوائجهم من الترحال طلباً للقمة العيش.
