يقدم الأديب العراقي د. "لؤي حمزة عباس" قراءة هامة في السرد العربي القديم جاءت تحت عنوان "بلاغة التزوير: فاعلية الإخبار في السرد العربي القديم" يسعى من خلالها إلى "تأمل النُسج السردية ومعاينة عناصرها بهدف الوقوف على قيمها الثقافية، تتوجه الدراسة لمعالجة السردي من منظور تعالقه مع الثقافي، واكتشاف قدرة كل منهما في الإفصاح عن الآخر، إضاءته وكشف خفاياه، إذ يظل السردي محكوماً بمجاله الثقافي، هذا المجال الذي يرعى شبكة لانهائية من الخطابات، نصية وغير نصية". وحتى يتمكن الباحث من معالجة هذا الموضوع وتحديد الموجهات الثقافية التي أنتجت شبكة معقدة من النصوص السردية، دأب إلى تضمين دراسته هذه مجموعة هامة من الإنجازات في السرد العربي القديم، والتي ستكشف عبر المعاينة النقدية، عن شخصياتها سواء أكانت أخباراً مفردة أم منظومات خبرية، مثلما ستشير إلى أصولها ومراجعها، فالفاعلية الصياغية في كل نص هي، بشكل أو بآخر، المعبّر الفعلي عن سيرته وبهذا يصبح كل نص من نصوص السرد العربي القديم، بهذا المعنى، يحمل سيرته معه، ما خفي منها وما ظهر، وبها ومن خلالها يمكن أن يقول عن نفسه مثلما يقول عن سياقاته المنتجة. يقسم الباحث دراسته إلى مقدمة وبابين يضم كل باب فصول عدة: الباب الأول جاء بعنوان: "الرسالة، الخبر، المنظومة الخبرية" ويضم ثلاثة فصول: الفصل الأول يدرس جمالية المواجهة في شعرية الرسالة، أما الفصل الثاني فجاء بعنوان: التطلع إلى النبوة ويسلط الأضواء على دراسة أمية بن أبي الصلت: المنظومة الخبرية كما وردت في كتاب "الأغاني"، وجاء الفصل الثالث ليحمل عنوان: بلاغة التزوير وهو دراسة في أخبار التزوير كما وردت في كتاب "نشوار المحاضرة وأخبار المذاكرة" للقاضي التنوخي (ت 384هـ). أما الباب الثاني فجاء بعنوان "السيرة وصياغة التاريخ" ويضم ثلاثة فصول: الفصل الأول جاء بعنوان: سيرة المغترب وهو دراسة لمركزية النثر وأساليب بناء الخبر في كتاب (طوق الحمامة) لابن حزم الأندلسي (ت 456هـ)؛ ويحمل الفصل الثاني عنوان سلوان السرد وهو دراسة في كتاب (سلوان المطاع في عدوان الأتباع) لأبي عبد الله بن ظفر الصقلي (ت 568هـ)، ويبحث الفصل الثالث في استراتيجيات الخبر وصياغة التاريخ وهو دراسة في (كتاب الأصنام) لابن الكلبي (ت 204هـ).
