تشكّل المصطلحات النقدية والبلاغية جزءاً مهمًّا متميزاً من التراث اللغوي والأدبي العربي. ولا تنبع أهمية هذا الجزء فقط من كونه مظهراً من مظاهر الإبداع الفكري والتطوير في اللغة وعلومها وثقافتها والتوجّه نحو الدقة في تحديد مدلولاتها والمفاهيم المرتبطة بفنون القول البليغ فيها، هذا بالإضافة إلى دلالته على التوجّه نحو المنهجية في دراسة النتاجات الإبداعية في مختلف هذه الفنون، وإنما تنبع هذه الأهمية أيضاً من ارتباط هذا الجزء بقضية الإعجاز البلاغي القرآني وباعتبارات النصوص الدينية البليغة التي تُعدّ مصدراً أساسياً من مصادر التشريع في الإسلام. في كتابه المعنون «في لغة المصطلح العربي» يقدم أ.د. أحمد محمد المعتوق دراسة نقدية في المصطلح العلمي الحديث والمصطلح البلاغي النقدي، وتهدف هذه الدراسة، بصورة أساسية، إلى معالجة المشكلات التي يواجهها الناشئة العرب بعامّة وطلبة التخصصات العلمية منهم بخاصّة في تلقِّي ما يوضع أو يقر من المصطلحات العلمية العربية الحديثة، وفي استيعاب هذه المصطلحات والتعامل معها وتحويل ما يكتسبونه منها إلى عناصر لغوية فاعلة في تطوير مستوياتهم الدراسية، وفي إغناء لغتهم العلمية. لذلك كله، فإن هذه الدراسة سوف تبدأ – كما أراد لها مؤلفها - بالكشف عن الأسس التي ترتكز عليها أهمية المصطلحات المذكورة، تمهيداً لإثبات ضرورة العناية بها وحث الناشئة في مستوياتهم العلمية المختلفة على التوجّه إليها، ثم تستعرض بعد ذلك أهم الطرق التي يمكن أن تؤدي إلى تنمية محصول هؤلاء الناشئة من هذه المصطلحات والعوامل التي تجعل من هذا المحصول حيوياً فاعلاً مؤهلاً للقيام بدوره في تنمية اكتسابهم الفكري والمعرفي وفي تطور قدراتهم على التعبير العلمي السليم. وفي نهاية المطاف، تطرح الحلول أو التوصيات التي يمكن أن تسهم في تحقيق الهدف المنشود وفي الارتقاء بالتعليم والإنتاج العلمي العربي إلى مستويات أفضل، والوصول بلغتنا العربية إلى مكانة أرقى وأشد صلابة وقوة وقابلية على التفاعل مع معطيات العصر.
