في دراسته المعنونة "اتجاهات نقد الرواية النسائية" يُعنى المؤلف الدكتور محمَّد أحمد أبو عدل برصد نقد الرواية النسائية ويتخذ من (بلاد الشام أنموذجاً) – للفترة (1975–2011) – أي، منذ إرهاصاته الأولى، مُبيناً طبيعة الاتجاهات النقدية المتبعة في دراستها، وتنوعها ما بين التقليدية والحداثية وما بعد الحداثية، وأهميتها في الكشف عن صورة المرأة وقضاياها وخصوصية إبداعها الروائي، كما يتتبع المؤلف تحولات هذا النقد، ويعرِّف بأبرز رواده، وبجهودهم النقدية، ويدرس النتائج التي توصلوا إليها، ومن ثم يرفق الدراسة ببيلوغرافيا ضخمة تعرِّف بالروايات النسائية في بلاد الشام. انطلاقاً من هذا الهم المعرفي يأمل المؤلف من هذا الكتاب: "أن يكون محاولة جادة في سياق الانتصار لأحد إنجازات الأنثى؛ والكشف عن خفاياها التي قلَّما تبوح بها – لشدة خطورتها في حياتها الحقيقية؛ ذلك أنَّ العاَلَم الروائي هو البيت المطواعُ لأسرارها، تطارحُهُ أفكارها المحظورة حول الرجل والسياسة والدين وجميع مناحي الحياة، ليأتي دورُ النقد في التنقيب عنها وإجلائِها لكلِّ من يتملكه الفضول في التعرف إلى هذا العالم المخبوء، ثم نقدُ النقد لينصبَ نفسه حَكَمّا يتحرَّى موضوعيةَ تلك المقاربات النقدية، ويبينُ أهميتها في الكشفِ عن أرضٍ بكْرٍ لم يسبقْ لأحدٍ قبلهم أن افتضَّها واختبرَ مدى خصوبتِها وإخصابِها". وبناءً على ما تقدم قسم المؤلف دراسته إلى تمهيد وبابين وملحق، وقد حاول التمهيد بدايةً الكشف عن إشكالية مصطلحات "النسائية" على الصعيدين اللغوي والاصطلاحي، فجرى تتبُّع ذلك عند نقاد عرب وأوروبيين. أما الباب الأول، فقد تناول الاتجاهات التقليدية لنقد الرواية النسائية في بلاد الشام، بينما تناول الباب الثاني، الاتجاهات الحداثية وما بعد الحداثية لنقد الرواية النسائية في بلاد الشام. وأخيراً، الخاتمة.
