المرأة تبرع دائماً في رسم تلك الصور الواقعية لفن القص في المجموعة، لنرى العديد من الشخصيات: أم تعاني من فرط عقوق ابنها، وأخت تعاني من ألم الوحدة، وأخرى ترسم المأساة تلو الأخرى، فالمرأة هي المحرك الرئيس للأحداث باعتبارها الراوي الوحيد للعديد من القصص.
القاصة هدى المعجمل تمتلك خامة اللغة السردية المتميزة إذ تخرج لنا من بين هذه الحكايات المألوفة لغة الحياة المعاندة، تلك التي لا تقر بالظلم، وترفض الأذى، وترسم للفأل والأمل خطوطاً عريضة، لتزيد تبصر الإنسان في الحقيقة، وتأمل وجهها الآخر بكل يقين وواقعية.
