«وأشرقت الشمس من الغرب» هي الرواية الثالثة للدكتور منذر البديري بعد «وتذكر بعضاً مما تتذكره...»، و«الماخور»، (الدار العربية للعلوم ناشرون). هذا العنوان/المعاكس، حيث استحالة أن تشرق الشمس من الغرب؛ يشكل مفتاحاً مناسباً للدخول إلى عتبة الرواية؛ التي أهداها البديري "إلى كل الذين نسجوا لذاتهم عالماً افتراضياً... عاشوا به لهم... ولهم وحدهم أهدي هذا النص"، فهل نحن أمام سلطة نص افتراضي لا يمت إلى الواقع بصلة، أم أننا أمام حالة خاصة، يحكي فيها الراوي سيرة عائلية تمتد على أجيال؟
في «وأشرقت الشمس من الغرب» يتناول منذر البديري حياة أسرة عربية عبر ثلاثة أجيال، يصطنع راوٍ يسند إليه مهمة الروي، هو أحد أبناء الأسرة من الجيل الثالث – عبد الهادي الصغير – فيقوم بسرد ذكريات ووقائع من حياة الأسرة وكل فرد فيها، أو انتسب إليها بفعل المصاهرة، متنقلاً بين الأزمنة والأمكنة، واصفاً تجارب كل شخصية والتحولات التي طرأت عليها، فتتعدد أدوات الحكي وأماكنه وأزمنته وموضوعاته من جيل إلى جيل، وقد تناثرت الحكايات في وحدات سردية طويلة متعددة العناوين، ولكن ينتظمها هم مشترك بالنسبة للراوي/ البطل – عبد الهادي الصغير – الذي بدا مصمماً على البحث عن سرّ أبيه أحمد المصري الذي وفد إلى المدينة مع ثروة هائلة وشارك جده – عبد الهادي الكبير – في تجارة، وتزوج ابنته الزهراء/ الأم، ومن ثم توفي في ظروف غامضة...!!
ومهما يكن من أمر الرواية وراويها، لعل منذر البديري أراد أن يقول في روايته أهمية بقاء الإنسان في وطنه فلا يهاجر منه من جهة، وأهمية بقائه على أرض الواقع فلا ينقطع منه ومن جذوره من جهة أخرى، ولعل وصية الجد أن يدفن باتجاه الغرب، يشي بالحنين إلى الأصل حتى بعد الممات "أريد أن أرى الشمس... وهي تشرق من الغرب... بذاك اليوم العظيم...".
