"ليلة على الرابية" رؤية إبداعية للكاتب محمد حسن الرياني ترتكز على فعل الرؤية (المشاهدة) التي تحاول وصف الشخصّية وإبرازها من قبل راوي مشارك؛ مباشر وعياني، يستمر في الوصف حتى آخر سطر في النص، وإذ نحن إزاء بنى سردية أشبه بالأقصوصة، وشخصيات واضحة محددة الملامح، وسلوك بشري تحدده الأفعال، ويبقى لطبيعة اللغة المستخدمة في النص دورها في إبراز ملامح كل حالة وتجربتها. وذلك حينما حوّل الكاتب النسيج اللغوي إلى سياق قادر على منح الألفاظ والتراكيب بعداً إنسانياً بحيث تبدو العبارات مكتنزة بالمعاني العديدة.تحت عنوان "الليلة الأخيرة"، نقرأ:"شعرتْ أن دمع عينيها أقوى من الواقع، لم تجد في مخابئها مناديل من الورق كما يفعل بعضهم لمسحها، سارعت لغطاء رأسها لاستقبال الدمعة القادمة من الحصن الشفاف، كان خروج الدمعة أشبه بولادة وحيدة لم تسبقها ولادات وربما لم تخلفها ولادات. جاءت الدمعة حرّى أشبه بجمرة بركانية لم تجد أرضاً لتنصهر عليها، التقطت طرف غطاء رأسها ومسحت الدمعة المتحجرة وأعادت طرف غطائها لتنفجر باكية بلا دموع هذه المرة؛ باستثناء حشرجة داخلية تسمعها هي وحدها. جلست والشوق يدفعها لكتابة عنوان الحلقة الأخيرة من مسلسل دموعها. أخرجت قلمها المعتاد وورقة بالية من حقيبتها وكتبت من وحي دمعتها مفردات الوداع الأخير".يضم الكتاب قصص قصيرة جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "حلم"، "شروق"، "الغروب"، "عبور"، "ليلة على الرابية"، "سوسة في الدقيق الأبيض"، "هل للماء تفسير؟"، "مزاح الجراء"، "الجحور"، "قطط وفئران"، "العرس"، "الملعب الرديف"، "الزاهد بين أبيه"، (...) وعناوين أخرى.
