استشهد المناضل باجس أبو عطوان (أبو شنار) في معركة خاضها ضد العدو في الأرض المحتلة في 20/6/1974، فأعلنت القيادة العامة لقوات العاصفة استشهاده، وقالت إنه كان مناضلاً صلداً وقائداً لإحدى المناطق في الأرض المحتلة.
التحـق المناضل بـاجس أبـو عطـوان بصفوف الثـورة في15/12 1967، وعمل منذ اليوم الأول بإحساس ثوري وبسرية تامة إلى أن التحق بالمجموعات العاملة في الجبل يوم 25/3/1968.
وفي إثر استشهاد قائد المجموعات المناضل أبو مليحة صدر قرار بتعيينه قائداً لتلك المجموعات ومنح رتبة نقيب. وقد خاض المناضل الشهيد 52 عملية ناجحة في جبال الخليل. وبجرأة نادرة استشهد في 20/6/1974.
يتحدث هذا الكتاب عن المقاتل الثوري باجس أبو عطوان حيث استمد الكاتب معلوماته من المعلومات والوثائق المتعلقة بتجربة العمل العصابي في جبال الخليل والجزء الأكبر منها بخط يد باجس أبو عطوان وجزء آخر بخط يد الشهيد علي أبو مليحة القائد السابق للمجموعة.
