تتصل خواطر الشاعرة فاطمة إبراهيم بخيط سرِّي يدفن سريته في روحية العبارة ورموزها الأنثوية والتي تمنحها مخيلة الشاعرة دينامية فائقة، ترشح من ذاكرة ملتهبة لا تحدها حدود، فهي بقدر ما تكون مرئية ومحسوسة، بقدر ما تمنح النص خيالاً ورومانسية، وبهذا تكون أمام شعرية المفارقة التي تجتمع باجتماع المتناقضات، وليغدو الحبّ ذلك الغائب الحاضر في ذات الشاعرة.
تحت عنوان "أنا والخيال" تقول الشاعرة: "أتقلب في سريري / الشوق يحرقني/ (...) كان وعدك لي بأنك دائماً بالقرب مني / أين رحلت؟ وفي أي أرض أنت؟ / أكنت وهماً أم سراباً؟ / أكنت أكتبُ القصائد لخيال / أكنتُ أتزين وأشتاق إلى خيال / أكنت أضحك وأبكي لخيال / (...) إن كنت قد سمعت قصيدتي / فرُدّ عليّ وقل إنك لست خيال". هكذا تمارس الشاعرة طقوسها على مذبح القصيدة بصمت، ليأتي الشعر هنا حالة إستثنائية من التوهج خارجاً عن وهج التكوين الذاتي للمرأة العاشقة وداخل فضاء خاوٍ يعوض غياب الحبيب، وبهذا يكون الشعر مصدراً للإلهام، ومساحة للبوح خاصة بالأنثى / الشاعرة.
يضم الكتاب خمسة وثلاثين خاطرة شعرية جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "رجل من صوف" ، " فضحني الشوق" ، "ما أروع الخريف" ، "حلمُ عاشقة" ، "أنا والخيال" ، "الموعد" ، "كوني وطناً" ، "وداعاً يا شهر فبراير ومارس" (...) وعناوين أخرى.
