الطب التجانسي هو عبارة عن طريقة علاج تتميز بإعطاء المريض مقادير ضئيلة من المادة التي تستطيع أن تولد عند الإنسان السليم علامات مشابهة لتلك التي يشكو منها المريض. والفضل في اكتشاف هذه الطريقة الطبية وتطبيقها على المرضى يعود إلى الطبيب الألماني، والأخصائي في علم السموم: ساموئل هاهنمان. لكن أسس وقواعد هذا الفن ترجع إلى الطبيب اليوناني أبقراط الذي كان أول من وضع نظرية معالجة النظير بالنظير. هذا وإن الشيء المهم في هذا الطب هو أنه يأخذ الفرد بمجمله ونفسيته وجسده، ويراعي قصة حياة المريض، ومحيطه وذوقه ورغبته ونفوره من الأطعمة، والظروف التي تساعد على تفاقم أو تحسن حالته الصحية أو علاماته المرضية. إنه يلجأ إلى استجوابات مفصلة تشمل أسئلة تبدو غريبة وعجيبة عند أول وهلة أو تماس بها، ويهتم بوقائع الحياة الصغيرة التي تظهر للمريض سخيفة وتافهة، وبعد ذلك، وبعد الانتهاء من كل خطوات المعاينة والتشخيص، وحين يأتي وصف الدواء للمريض، فليس من الوارد، في الطب التجانسي، أن يعطي الطبيب دواءً واحداً لعدّة مرضى يشكون من حالة مرضية معينة، فالدواء يوصف تبعاً لاختلاف كيفيات علامات المرض والإحساسات المترافقة معه. هذا وإن الأطفال والأولاد يمثلون، أكثر من غيرهم في بقية الأعمار، التربة الملائمة لتأثير الدواء التجانسي، لأنهم لم يتعرضوا في حياتهم إلا إلى القليل من التعدّيات المرضية، وأن الأعراض التي يظهرونها تشبه كثيراً العلامات الموجودة في أمراض الأدوية في كتب "المادة الطبية" المختلفة. ويأتي الكتاب ليشرح ويوضح مدى فعالية الطب التجانسي في معالجة الأمراض المختلفة لدى الأطفال. والمؤلف يتحدث عن ذلك من موقعه كطبيب ممارس لهذه النوعية العلاجية. وغايته المساهمة في إيجاد وتقديم الحلول السريعة والسهلة، لبعض الاضطرابات المرضية، والهموم العادية، التي يشكو الأولاد منها في حياتهم اليومية.
