"أن تعيش وحيداً/ كأغنيةٍ باعتدادٍ مرير/ تقيس الأزقة بالذكريات/ وتحصي أصابع خيبات عمرك/ أن تحس بموتك/ ولم تك بعد كتبت/ القصيدة/ حينها سوف تدرك/ أنك وحدك/ هذا الضياع"، لعل هذا المقتبس من المجموعة الشعرية الجديدة "يقيس الأزقة بالذكريات" للشاعر ابراهيم مبارك تؤشر على ثقل الإحساس بالألم الذي ينسحب على قصائد الشاعر بكاملها وهو كناية أدبية تحيل إلى العبث واللاجدوى والفراغ الروحي الذي يتقاسم إحساسه الشاعر مع إنسان هذا العصر. وهذا النوع من الكتابة ينطلق من الواقع نفسه، ويحاول بلغة الشعر كشف ما ينطوي عليه أو يشي به، من دلالات ومحمولات وإشارات، سواء على مستوى النص المكتوب أو الخطاب الموجه إلى المتلقي المشارك بالضرورة للحالة.
في القصيدة المعنونة بـ (نذر) يقول الشاعر: "للعاكفين على الطرقات/ من قاسموك رغيف التسكع/ منذ تهجت خطاك السواد/ إلى آخره../ للتائبين من الأمنيات/ إذا جاذبوك اختلاس مساء/ بمقهى غريب/ وبوح لنرجيلة متعبة/ للصائمين عن الذكريات/ وقد رحلوا صوب أحلامهم/ قرب تلك المدن/ قائماً/ تركوك كفزاعة للحقول/ غريبٌ (...)".
بهذا الخطاب يسافر الشاعر ابراهيم مبارك إلى عوالم لا حدود لها، في وصفه الكائن الحي، عبر المفارقة والسخرية، ومع التقدم في قراءة النص نجد أن الشاعر قد نجح في إدخال عناصر جديدة ميزته في هذا الحقل، واجتراح شكل جديد في إنتاج المعاني في بناها التشعيرية. إن حساسية نزع المعاني عن العالم كانت الشغل الشاغل لرؤيته الشعرية والتي نجح من خلالها في تحويل ونقل الواقع إلى الشعر، بدلاً من نقل الشعر إلى الواقع؛ وهو نموذج اخترعه الشاعر وصنعه، بكل تفاصيله وتشظياته؛ فكان خير من كتب وخير من أبدع.
يضم الكتاب أربعون قصيدة في الشعر العربي الحديث جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "نذر"، "الهشيم"، "عيد"، "شبه"، "كتابة"، "اختيار"، "قتاد"، "اجتراح"، "سيد البيد"، "الأزقة" (...) وقصائد أخرى.
