بين يدينا عمل إبداعي جديد للكاتب والشاعر اللبناني علي أسعد جابر قدم له بمقدمة وفيها يقول: بين يديك، قارئي العزيز كتابي الثاني وهو بعنوان: "ما الحبُّ إلَّا...". وقد جاء على نسق الكتاب الأول «يقينُ الرضى»، من حيث أنه يتضمن مجموعة من الخواطر، والوجدانيات، والهواجس، والتعليقات، في قصائد وكتابات، صادرة من القلب. وقد استقيتُ عنوان الكتاب من بيتِ شعرٍ للشاعر العربي أبي تمام: نقّل فؤادك حيثُ شئتَ من الهوى ما الحبُّ إلّا للحبيبِ الأولِ الحبُّ الأول، هنا، يأخذ أشكالاً متعددة. والحبيب الأول، هنا، طائفةٌ من الأحباء الأوّلين: الوطن، البحر، الحرية، الكتابة، الحفيد، الأولاد، الزوجة، الوالدين، الأشقاء والشقيقات وأولادهم، الأهل، والربع... جميعهم ساكنون في القلب، والوجدان، والذاكرة. الحبُّ مع هؤلاء يتحوّل إلى معمودية من نور. والحبُّ مع هؤلاء يمسي حرية، وثورةً، وخَلقاً، ومدىً واسعاً للبوح والفوح. لقد جعلت من قلبي روضةً تفيضُ بشتى أنواع الزهور. وكلُّ حبيب، من هؤلاء الأحبّة، يمثِّل زهرة من هذه الزهور، لها عبيرها الخاص، ومكانتها المتميزة. ويتابع الكاتب: كتاباتي تعكس نواحيَ متعددة من حياتي، بكل ما تحوي هذه الحياة من آمال، وإحباطات، ونجاحات، وانكسارات. وقد أَرسلتُ فيها قلمي على سجيّتهُ، يقول ما يقول؛ فهو تارةً ملتهب، يتّقد، وطوراً سلس، ينساب، عبر قصائد مغمورة بالحنين والشجن، تتماهى مع هواجس القلب بكثير من الإحساس. مؤمناً بأن عوامل الإبداع الأدبي الأساسية هي: الحدس، الإحساس، والعفوية. وبقدر ما يلتصق الكاتب بهذه الأساسيات، بقدر ما يكون صادقاً في التعبير عن مكنونات ذاته...". في ضوء ما سبق قسّم الشاعر عمله إلى أربعة أبواب ينطوي تحت كل واحد منها مجموعة شعرية جاءت تحت العناوين الرئيسية الآتية: الباب الأول: حفيدي، الباب الثاني: أنا مثلك يا بحر، الباب الثالث: هواجس السنين، الباب الرابع: زادُ الحنين. من عوالم الشاعر جابر نقرأ قصيدة بعنوان «بلدي» وفيها يقول: "لماذا، يا بلدي،/ كل هذا الاسترسال،/ في الاستسهال؟/ متى تواجه أقدارك/ كالرجال؟/ متى ترصّعُ أيامك،/ بالآمال؟".
