(ألفريد تينيسون. المترجمة) هذا ما توشك أنت على «النظر إليه» وقراءته في الصفحات التالية. حرب تجمع فرساناً متسلحين بالسيوف، بجنود يتمتعون بمكانة وعتاد أفضل في المعركة. ستعجب بأولئك الفرسان، فارساً فارساً؛ برشاقتهم، وشجاعتهم، وبسالتهم. غير أنهم هنا (في هذه المعركة، عبارة عن) مخلوقات هشة، مصنوعة من ورق، تشغل ارتفاعا وعرضا بسيطا من سطح المكتب، ولا تنقصها شجاعة ولا إقدام. إنها كتب وكتيبات من القرن العشرين، مغلفة بتغليف ورقي رقيق أو سميك، ويتكون كل منها من صفحات قليلة، أو مطويات مطبوعة من الجانبين. قليلة ورفيعة كما هي في صفحات هذا الكتاب الذي توشك على قراءته. ستجد كتبا تهاجم نیران مدفعية رقمية، وجيشا من الصفحات المجانية المنبثقة من نقرات على لوحك الإلكتروني أو حاسوبك، بيئة جميلة و قبيحة في عالم التواصل اليوم، عالم فيسبوك، وإنستغرام .
