يتناول هذا الكتاب لمؤلفه الصحفي سيمور م. هيرش/الحائز على جائزة بوليتز، مسألة قتل إبن لادن عام 2011، ويُظهر زيف أقوال الحكومة الأمريكية ومزاعمها البطولية الفارغة في كيفية الوصول إليه والغارة التي نُفذت وأدت إلى قتله وحكاية دفن جثمانه في البحر. كما يتعرض الكتاب للحرب الإرهابية في سوريا وتهريب السلاح والعتاد من ترسانة القذافي عن طريق تركيا وبواسطة التمويل الخليجي ليصل إلى الإرهابيين؛ الذين ما توانوا عن استعمال السلاح الكيماوي. كما يتطرق إلى تدفق المساعدات والمقاتلين الأجانب عبر حدود تركيا الجنوبية، ودور الأخيرة أيضاً في جلب المقاتلين الآسيوين للمشاركة في دوامة القتل والتدمير التي حوّلت البلد الجميل إلى كومة أحجار وخرائب.
لقد سجَل المؤلف سابقة في نشر معلومات لم تُكشف من قبل. واستند في بحثه إلى أكثر من مركز أرشيفي رسمي أمريكي؛ يختص ليس فقط في سجلات وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية وإنما في سجلات مجلس الأمن القومي ووكالة المخابرات المركزيّة ومجلس الأمن القومي التابع للبيت الأبيض، والسجلّ الشفوي لدبلوماسيي وزارة الخارجيّة وضباط سابقين ومستشارين لوكالة المخابرات الأمريكية. أدى التمحيص والبحث الدقيق الذي أجراه المؤلف إلى ربط خيوط لم تكن مربوطة بهذا الوضوح، وهو يضعها في متناول القراء؛ لكي يبنوا قناعاتهم على أكثر من مصدر يتجاوز الروايات العلنية لسياسة الحكومات الأمريكية المتعاقبة.
