شتمني الضابط قبل أن يصدر أمره للجنديين بأن يضعاني في السيارة العسكرية. هكذا وجدت نفسي مجدداً. بدأ "الجيب" سيره. أثارت في الارتجاجات رغبة التقيؤ. وضعت يدي على كتف الضابط الجالس قدامي وقلت له بصوت خسيس: سيدي... نظر إلي الضابط نظرة مليئة بالكراهية. ومن جديد بدأ بالصراخ: إن الكومندان ينكح أختك!
خيط من المياه البارزة على وجهي يغسل من على شفتي ومنخري وعيني طعم الدم الفاتر، رائحة الطين اللزجة، ظلمات الليل الثقيلة، تعتريني رعشة. علي الاقتناع بأن روحي قد عادت وبأن الجن قد رحلت. علي أن أفتح عيني في هذه اللحظة... تحت الألم الواخز ينثني جفناي أكثر. أشعر بعيني تتحركان تحت جفني, هل أستطيع أن أحرك ذراعاي؟ إنهما يتحركان، هل يمكن لي أن أستيقظ؟ ربما.
حين سكبت الماء طردت بارفانا الجن، نجحت روحي في الهرب من أحذية الجنود، انتزعت من الطين وها هي الآن تتسلل بخفة إلى جسدي، بيد أنها جريحة ومغتالة، هذا ما يدعى "اتحاد الجسد والروح"، يشعر جسدي بعتمة روحي.
هل تشعر بتحسن يا أخي؟ بارفانا؟ لا يرن صوتي المحطم إلا في داخلي. هل تستطيع النهوض؟ كلا، هذا الصوت ليس صوت بارفانا. من أنت؟ ماذا؟
إنها لا تسمع، علي أن أسترد أنفاسي، الهواء، اللاذع، يحيي جراح روحي. يشعل الألم حلقي، علي أن أفتح عيني، برغم الألم، فتحت جفني، لم أر سوى السواد مجدداً. هل يمكن أنني ما زلت أحلم بعد؟
