- لقد أرسل "أرشد" برقيته الأخرى، وهو الآن الزعيم الرسمي لتنظيم البنغال. قالها سلمان وهو يناول ماجد البرقية التي أرسلت للتو، أخذ ماجد البرقية، وفضّها على عجل، وأخذ يلتهم بعينيه سطورها، ثم رفع رأسه إلى سلمان، وقال والحماس يتجلى على وجهه: - عظيم... عظيم.. لقد انتهى الجزء الأول من الخطة على ما يرام، وبقي الجزء الأهم.. والأصعب. - الجزء الأول؟! لقد اعتقدت أن القبض على "دون"، وتولي "أرشد" الزعامة يغير كل شيء، ويجعل منهم لقمة سائغة في أيدينا. - ليت الأمور بهذه البساطة يا سلمان، فما زال الطريق أمامنا طويلاً، ومثل هؤلاء لن يهدأوا أبداً. - حسناً... وما هي الخطوة التالية؟ أشار إليه ماجد وهو يقوم من مقعده، وهو يقول: - "المعرفة على قدر الحاجة" يا سلمان... هذه هي القاعدة هنا، تذكر ذلك دائماً، لكني سأزور "دون" اليوم، وأحاول أن أعرف ما وراءه. في غرفة صغيرة رمادية، وعلى طاولة صغيرة صُفَّ أمامها مقعدان متقابلان، جلس "دون" على أحدهما مكبل اليدين، والقلق بادٍ على قسمات وجهه الأسمر، كما يتجلى في حركة قدمه السريعة المتواصلة، وتعرق يديه وسرعة حركتهما، ومراقبته الباب في كل لحظة، وعندما انفتح الباب ارتكض في مكانه، وهو ينظر برعب إلى الرجل الذي دخل بهدوء، وأغلق الباب خلفه، ووقف يرمقه في صمت...
