يستعيد الكاتب العراقي شاكر نوري الرحلة الأكثر تأثيراً في آداب الشعوب، رحلة جلجامش نحو الخلود، ولكن ليس كما جاءت في الملحمة وإنما كما يراها كاتب معاصر يعيش أحداث وطنه الذي أصبح جلجامش برواية حديثة، بطلها عالم جينات عاد لوطنه لينفذ وصية صديقه في دفنه في تراب وطنه ولكنه يفاجأ عند نقطة الحدود بأن أهالي بلده "خالدون" في ألبدية. فنحن هنا لسنا في عام 1800 قبل الميلاد بل في عام 2008 وما قبلها من السنوات. تحاكي الرواية الألواح الإثني عشر في ملحمة جلجامش لكن أحداثها تجري في ثلاث عواصم متروبوليتانية: باريس ولوس أنجلوس وسواديا التي توزعت عليها شخصيات الرواية. وفي انتقالات بطل الرواية بين معبر بيل والفندق والحانة والمسجد والمتحف وحي العاهرات ومركز فحص الإيدز والنهر والكلك والسفينة السياحية والغابة، تتجسد الرحلة الأبدية لإنسان معاصر ومغترب في المكان والزمان. في الرواية تتحول "وصفة" الكائن الذي ثلثه إنسان وثلثاه "إله" إلى مادة للتجسس والقلق الوجودي والاضطراب الأمني بعد أن جعلت القوى الكونية تخشى تكرارها وولادتها في المختبرات من جديد، وحين تفشل في سرقتها أو خلقها تعمد إلى تفجير الحروب. "كلاب جلجامش" رواية معاصرة تتأمل في الإنسان ومعنى الحياة والموت ومعنى الوجود، في العصر الحديث حيث يتضاعف معنى الموت ويصبح أكثر فداحة إلى أن يجد أهالي "سواديا" الخلاص ن الخلود والعثور على الحل في الجثة القادمة إليهم من المعبر الحدودي "بيل"، تلك الخميرة التي أعادت لهم الحياة بعد أم تجمدت مثل كرة ثلجية لسنوات طويلة.
