"أضغاث مدينة" عمل روائي جديد للكاتب والفنان التشكيلي العراقي "عبد الرضا صالح محمد"، يروي حكاية الانتقال من البداوة إلى الحداثة، يتحرك على مساحة واسعة ويتنقل بين الأمكنة والأزمنة، ويقدم شخصيات مختلفة تمثل ثلاثة أجيال، يروي حكاياتها المتعاقبة، المتذكرة والمتخيلة، ويجمعها في نص واحد، في سرد فني يصبح معه فعل الروي مرادفاً للحياة، فهل أراد الروائي إنقاذ الذاكرة العراقية من الضياع وصوغ تاريخ حيّ يعصى على التزوير بواسطة الأدب. ولِمَ لا؛ أليس الأدب تاريخاً فنياً. وفي الرواية يسند عبد الرضا صالح محمد فعل الروي إلى الشاب (أحمد) من الجيل الثالث والذي يقوم بدوره بروي حكاية الجد (راشد الغافل) الذي يضطر إلى ترك بلده في الجنوب والارتحال إلى بغداد والإقامة عند أحد أقرباءه (شويغي)، هرباً من ثأر قبيلة تعدى أحد أبناءها على خاله (مايد) في منزله فدافع الجد عن خاله وقتل اللص الذي حاول سرقة أموال العائلة، وهكذا تلعب الأقدار بالجد راشد فيعيش عشرون سنة بعيداً عن أرضه، تزوج خلالها أربع نسوة وأنجب كثيراً من الأولاد والأحفاد ولكنه لمْ ينسَ أبداً أرضه في الجنوب والتي ما لبث أن عاد إليها. في الخطاب الروائي، تتألف الرواية من مجموعة وحدات سردية متعاقبة، مستقلة، معنونة بعناوين مختلفة يجمع بينها أن الراوي شاهد عليها أو فاعلٌ أو متدخل فيها، ما يقربها من أدب السيرة الذاتية - الروائية على أن السرد ضمن الوحدة السردية قد ينتقل من واقعة إلى ذكرى أو من زمن إلى آخر أو من حدث إلى آخر، وهذا الانتقال بطيء، في تحولاته الدرامية، يمارس فيه الكاتب نوعاً من متعة الروي ومتعة الحكاية؛ أو فلنقل حكايات ذلك الزمن الجميل بشخوصه ووقائعه وعاداته وتقاليده ونكهة تفاصيله في الوجدان الجماعي للناس، فإذا نحن إزاء أدب روائي أكثر مما نحن إزاء سرد روائي.
