ترصد رواية «حياة... في منصف الموت» للشاعرة والروائية اللبنانية حنان رحيمي مرحلة الحرب اللبنانية التي اندلعت شرارتها الأولى في النصف الثاني من السبعينات ووضعت أوزارها آخر الثمانينات من القرن العشرين، وحنان رحيمي تستعيد هذا الماضي الأليم في تاريخ لبنان من موقع الروائية التي تختار من تاريخ بلادها ما يشكل إطاراً أو خلفية لمشهدها الروائي، وبشخوص وأحداث ووقائع من واقع الحياة. وجميعها تدور تحت سقف الوطن.
في المقدمة التي تفتتح بها الروائية عملها هذا تقول: "حياة ... في منتصف الموت": رواية واقعية، تحاكي حقبة من زمن مؤلم، مرَّ به لبنان، مضت... ولكن فصولها السوداء لم تمضِ... ما زلنا نجددها، ونعيش راهنها بأكثر مظاهرها بشاعة.
تطرح الرواية، عدة تساؤلات، يجد فيها القارئ نفسه... أنه يقف في منتصف الموت... وعلامات استفهام شرسة تنطلق من أعماقه: إلى أين أمضي؟... كيف وصلت إلى هنا؟... ولماذا؟...
ربما يكمن الجواب في سطور الرواية، حين نكتشف أن لكل منا بصمةً في شق دروب الظلم والظلام... وأننا جميعاً، شاركنا في تدمير أنفسنا، ومجتمعاتنا، وأوطاننا... ودفعنا إلى ولوجها أجيالاً، تعاقبت على سلوك مسارات العتمة... أجيالاً محنطة وأخرى قيد التحنيط... تعيش في الرطوبة تحت ظل عفن أفكار موروثة... تعبثُ بها عند الحاجة مصالُح الحكام... لتفوح رائحتها حروباً وموتاً ودماراً.
رواية، تتناول في طياتها الفوراق الطبقية، حكاية بشر خلقوا للسير بأقدام حافية... وبشر خلقوا للسير على رؤوس هؤلاء الحفاة. فهل نعود من منتصف الموت لملاقاة الحياة!!".
قدم للرواية الروائي نواف أبو الهيجاء بكلمة يقول فيها: "إن كانت "الرواية" إعادة صياغة للحياة من وجهة نظر، فالفن يجب أن يكون جميلاً... حتى في معالجة ما أقبح من القُبح.
حنان رحيمي هنا معنية بالإنسان وعلاقته بأخيه الإنسان... لا سيما حين ينطلق الوحش الكاسر من أعماقٍ تغادر فيها الإنسانية إنسانيتها عبر تفجير الجوع المزمن للتملك والاستبداد. حيث يسود الخراب متنقلاً من الجوف الداخلي المريض إلى الوطن كله..
رواية شفيفة ومؤلمة بحديها. قد تتفق مع رؤيتها وقد لا تتفق ولكن ما يحكم الصلة هو الاحترام لمنتج إبداعي مميز".
كما قدم للرواية أيضاً الكاتب والباحث عباس الحسيني بعبارات يقول فيها: "أوجعتني حنان رحيمي حد البكاء.. عرتنا جميعاً في هذه الرواية.. جالت بنا في شوارع المدينة، وزواياها.. فكانت جولة لمراحل الحياة فينا.. والتي عادة لا يكون موتها إلا في منتصفها.. رواية رائعة جديرة حقاً بالقراءة".
