وفي الرواية: بعد موت جنكيز خان تستعرّ نار المنافسة على قيادة المغول بين أبنائه الثلاثة وأحفاده الأربعة. وبعد تنصيب ابنه أوجيدي خاناً، يضحّي أحد إخوته بنفسه، بينما يُبعَدُ الآخر ليحكم مملكة بعيدة، في حين يشرع الأحفاد الأربعة بالتخطيط لمؤامرة تدفعهم طموحاتهم إليها.
