الحدّ الأقصى لارتقاء الشاعر هو أن يصبح فيلسوفاً. وحين يصبح فيلسوفاً يتحول إلى سياسيّ وهنا يفقد الشاعر إلهامه. فهو حين يُصبح سياسياً يتحول إلى قاتل. فثمة أوقات لا يمكن فيها وقف إراقة الدماء إلا بإراقة الدماء، وهكذا تصبح (أنا) الشاعر (أنا) شخص آخر، شجرة بائسة، آلة كمان تبكي ألحانُها أحلامه التي ضاعت.
إن رواية يفغيني تشيجوف (ترجمة أشعار الزعيم) تُحاول الكشف عن الصراع بين سلطة الشعر التي تتجلى في خلوده، والسلطة السياسية التي تتجسد مادياً في الواقع لكنها محكومة بالزوال، إنها رواية تستحق القراءة.
من أجواء الرواية نقرأ:
"أنا أفهم أن الحد الأقصى لارتقاء الشاعر هو أن يصبح نبياً، وهو حين يصبح نبياً، يتحول إلى سياسي – هنا عليه أن يتوقف. أوليغ كان يعرف ذلك، لكنه لم يستطع إلاّ أن يتم السلسلة، كانت الكلمات تثب إلى رأس لسانه من تلقاء نفسها، ولا سيما وأنه ردّ اتهام غوليسوف وأعاده إليه، إنه، في الواقع، كان يكرر كلماته، وكان صدى له، وهذا إغراء لم يكن قادراً على مقاومته – وحين يصبح سياسياً يتحول إلى قاتل، (...) أتكلم على أولئك من عاشوا بحوار "سوفخور المؤتمر الثاني والعشرون".. أنا أفهمك، ولكنك.. أنت أيضاً يجب أن تفهمني! أنت لا يمكن أن تأخذ على محمل الجد أني، أنا القادم إلى كشطير باستان فقط لكي يلتقي بك، شاركت في مؤامرة بهدف قتلك!...".
