عبر هذا الفضاء تدور أحداث الرواية بين تبوك وعمان والعراق.. أبطالها ثلاثة أصدقاء في ربيع العمر وهم يوسف الغربي وعمار الخضر ورائد العون، يتشابهون في أشياء مشتركة، تسكن قلوبهم قيم الوفاء والصدق، لكن ظروف المرحلة ومتغيراتها، تداهمهم في غفلة من العمر الجميل، وتخطفهم تحولات الحياة، وتلقي بهم كلٌّ في اتجاه. يوسف في ميدان الصحافة والأدب والشعر، وعمار في ميدان المعركة فذهب ضحية الفكر الإرهابي المتطرف، أما رائد فخرج في الوقت المناسب من دائرة ضالة كادت أن تهلكه.
يظل عبد الرحمن العكيمي كاتباً صحفياً وروائياً متميزاً، من حيث قدرته على خلخلة السؤال، وتصويب سهام النقد والتوجيه للتيارات الفكرية المأدلجة، ولهذا جعل كتاباته تقرب المسافات، وتحتضن الصدمات، وتفحص المسلَّمات، وتستبطن محنة الذوات.. هي عالم قائمٌ بذاته، مُفْعَمٌ بالحياة، منفتح على الاحتمالات، حمّال لكلّ ألوان التفسير والتأويل. والغاية دفع القارئ إلى النّظر إلى العالم بعيون جديدة وروح سامية.
