هذه رواية عن الـ «موتٌ بالجملة»، (أو تكرارٌ لفعل الموت؟)، وحياة الشخوص بُنيت على أحداث حقيقيّة. (1975- 2017)، بهذا التنويه يُعرّف الكاتب فهد السيّابي روايته ويفتتح مشهده الروائي بفعل الموت "كريم مات"، مات موتاً مجانياً بالجملة عندما اختارَ بحماس وطواعية اللعب مع النار، نار سلطتين قويتين، تفرعت منها سلطاتٌ أخرى باتت أكثر فتكاً، لها نكهة الدم والنحر والفداء.. الخاسر الوحيد فيها هو الإنسان السوري. في هذه الرواية يكتب السيّابي في فضاء الموت أو ما يصفه بـ "كوميديا الموت الساخرة"، بصورٍ متنوعة، ومعانٍ مختلفة، تستند في روائيتها على الوضع السياسي في سورية منذ منتصف سبعينيات القرن العشرين وحتى قيام الثورة في العام 2011 وتمتد وقائعها إلى العام 2018، وتتمظهر الأحداث من خلال رصد حياة عائلة سورية فقدت واحداً من أبنائها في الحرب المستعرة بين الأطراف المتنازعة على السلطة، "كريم الذي تحمس للثورة واقتلعته الوعود والآمال البرّاقة في استعادة "يوتوبيا" ضاعت في البلاد"، وكانت النتيجة أن فقد حياته وغيره من أعداء النظام، ممن اختاروا أن لا يغادروا الوطن إلا جثّة؛ وآخرين، فقدوا حياتهم، ممن اختاروا الهجرة والرحيل، فارين من موت، إلى موتٍ آخر، وسط البحر تهشّمهم، أمواج غاضبة لا تتمنّى للمشرّدين واللاجئين النجاة... فارين من وطنٍ لفظهم إلى حدودٍ مغلقة... وفي مثل هكذا حالات هل يكون "الموت"، فرصة للنجاة؟ ولعل ترك السيّابي نهاية روايته مفتوحة بمثابة القول أن جراح الثورة لم تلتئم بعد وأن هناك الكثير من الموت المُنتظر…
- من أجواء الرواية نقرأ:
"كريم مات. مثل عار، كان جسده ملقىً على الصفيح المعدنيّ، بكفن متّسخ ومكرمش يكاد يغطّي جزأه السفليّ. رأسه مفكوكٌ من الرقبة، مثل خيطٍ غادرَ إبرته. كنت أفكّر، وعيناي جاحظتان ومنخرطتان في التجويف الضّخم للرقبة، أنّ خيار رجوع الرأس المجزوز إلى الرقبة، والالتئام بها مجدّداً، لم يعد متاحاً.
كنت مصعوقاً. أرتعش من الصدمة. على نحوٍ غريزيّ، ذراعاي تهدّلتا. حينما كُشف الغطاء عن الجثّة، لم أخضع لهمس الخاطر الذي انبعث على شكل وعي في دماغي، أنّ الرأسَ والجسدَ هما غصنان من أصل جذع واحد، وقد افترقا بضربة فأس الآن، وكانا يرجعان لجذع كريم…".
