«اليابان بين الحربين العالميتين: دراسة في التاريخ السياسي والاقتصادي والاجتماعي 1945 - 1918» وهي من تأليف الدكتورة أمل عفيف بوغنّام وتقديم الدكتور مسعود ضاهر. تستهدف هذه الدراسة الأكاديمية البحث في الأسباب المباشرة وغير المباشرة التي دفعت باليابان إلى خوض الحرب العالمية الثانية في مواجهة الولايات المتحدة ودول الحلفاء؛ بعد أن كانت عملت طوال فترة حكم مايجي (1912 - 1868) حتى نهاية الحرب العالمية الأولى على مهادنتها، وتحاشي الدخول في نزاعات بين البلدين. وفي خطٍ متوازنٍ عملت على الاستفادة من العلوم الغربية، ومن ظروف الحرب العالمية الأولى بهدف تقدم البلاد. تركز الدراسة على الفترة التاريخية الممتدة بين الحربين العالميتين والتغييرات السياسية والتطورات العسكرية والاقتصادية التي رافقت هذه الفترة. والتبدلات الاجتماعية، وتفاعلات أفكار العصر الليبرالية والاشتراكية مع المجتمعات، وظهور حركات اجتماعية انعكست على الحياة الاجتماعية وخلق أنظمة متصادمة فيما بينها.
