الهدف من إعادة البحث في موضوعات لم يتوقّف البحث فيها منذ احتكاكنا المباشر بالغرب الاستعماريّ في الربع الأخير من القرن الثامن عشر، هو إعادة التأكيد على حاجتنا إلى التفكير العقلانيّ، وإلى الحرّية، والدّولة، والخير العامّ، وغير ذلك من القيَم والمفاهيم والمُمارسات التي رافقت الحداثة، والتي باتت مع ما يسمّى بمرحلة “ما بعد الحداثة“، ثمّ بمرحلة “بعد ما بعد الحداثة“، وما رافقهما من منظوماتٍ فكريّة، قيَماً ومفاهيم مرذولة ومُتجاوَزَة؛ فكان لا بدّ لنا من أن نتساءل أين نحن من هذا الجدل كلّه؟ وهل نحن، كدولٍ ومجتمعاتٍ عربيّة تنخرط في حضارةٍ عالميّة واحدة، مُساقون حُكماً إلى تبنّي مفاهيم “ما بعد الحداثة” ومرتكزاتها النظريّة بغثّها وسمينها؟ وهل انتفت حاجتنا إلى الحداثة؟
هل نقفز فوق ضرورات تحقيق تنمية اقتصاديّة حقيقيّة، تستند إلى جوهر مبادئ الحداثة، من إصلاحٍ سياسيّ لأنظمة التمثيل السياسيّ والنقابيّ، وتداوُل السلطة، وتكريس الديمقراطيّة والحرّيات على أنواعها، وترسيخ دَور المؤسّسات وآليّات الفحص والمُحاسَبة والمُساءلة… لكونها تنمية تحمل في مضامينها تراث الحداثة اللّيبراليّة الغربيّة؟ هل نتخلّى عن دولة الرفاه، لأنّها لم تعُد منسجمة مع ضرورات الرأسماليّة المتوحّشة؟ وهل نُهلِّل لفكرة “نهاية التاريخ” المُوازية لمقولة الحدّ من سلطة الفكر والعقل؟
