يتخذ الكاتب حمد بن عبد الله الحويكان من عنوان كتابه «هندسة الروح» استراتيجية كتابية نصية للتدوين وتطريز المعاني، في كونيتها وإشاراتها ومحمولاتها، لتأتي النصوص على شكل باقات أو ومضات قصيرة تحمل في ثناياها، روح الكاتب/ الإنسان وعوالمه الظاهرة والخفية في آن.
في المقدمة التي يفتتح بها الكاتب عمله يقول: "... هندسة الروح كتبت على طريقة النصوص الأدبية التحفيزية القصيرة ظناً من الكاتب أن الأمر سيكون سهلاً وأن الكتابة المختصرة أسهل بكثير من الروايات والقصص وما شابهها! ولكن الأمر كان أصعب جداً مما تصورت بأميال! لذا هي نصوص كتبت بروح الكاتب قبل خياله النرجسي ليكون هو وأنت وأنتِ على الصراط المستقيم والروح العالية والعطاء الدائم، لا أظن حسب عطاء ذاكرتي أن حرفاً كتبت هنا من تلقاء نفسي أو من الخيال الواسع، بل هي مواقف عايشها الكاتب ولخصها كما يمليه عليه الضمير الأدبي..". ويختتم الكاتب: لم يكن من أولوياتي أن أخرج هذا الكتاب إلا بعد ما أيقنت بأن الحبّ هو مشاعر الآخرين! لذا قررت أن لا أكتم علماً أو تجربة عايشتها واستفدت منها يوماً".
