يتناول هذا الكتاب التفاعل الحضاري لمكة المكرمة وقدسية مكانها لخير انعكاس لحركة الشعوب المسلمة وتفاعلها مع بيت الله الحرام، فمن خلال مرآة الحيز المكاني الذي ارتبطنا به نجد أن المكان قد ترك في أعمالنا سماته من خلال مؤثرات عميقة في وجداننا نحو مهوى الأفئدة ،فتفاعلت عناصر المكان والإنسان والزمان ببعده التاريخي فنحن في مكة المكرمة نجد أنفسنا نتشبث بجذور الماضي والحاضر والمستقبل لنستنشق منه عبير هدي ديننا الحنيف .
يرتبط مكان مكة المكرمة المقدس بالمكان وعلاقته بالناس في حيز له مجال عالمي برسالته الإلهية السامية، لذلك فإننا عندما نتناوله بالدراسة من أبعاد التفاعل الحضاري، فإننا نرتكز على مرتكزات ودعائم أسست قبل أكثر من أربعة عشر قرناً ولازالت لها سمتها التي حفظها لها الله عز وجل عبر السنين فالزمن: هو الشاهد على تاريخ هذه القدسية المباركة للمكان وأهله وخصائصهم في هذا المكان الطاهر الشريف الذي نتحسسه من ذاتيتنا وهويتنا من خلال ديننا الإسلامي .
ونحن نعيش في عصرنا الراهن مرحلة تاريخية تواجه فيها أمتنا الإسلامية تحديات حضارية،تحتاج منا إلى رؤية عميقة لكي نعي حضارتنا التي تمثل لنا أنموذجا رائعا يحكمه المدى الجغرافي في الحيز المساحي الذي تشغله.
وإننا حين نستقرئ ما كتب عن ( مكة المكرمة) نزداد شغفاً بقيمة هذا المكان المقدس الذي وقف الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم، فيه على جمرة العقبة في عام الفتح وقال: "والله إنك لخير أرض الله وإنك لأحب أرض الله إليّ ولو لم أُخرج ما خرجت، إنها لم تحل لأحد كان قبلي ولا تحل لأحد كان بعدي وما أحلت لي إلا ساعة من نهار ثم هي حرام لا يعضد شجرها ولا يحشش خلالها ولا تلتقط ضالتها إلا لمنشد، فقال رجل: يا رسول الله إلا الإذخر فإنه لبيوتنا وقبورنا، فقال صلى الله عليه وسلم: إلا الإذخر".
