"تشكّلنا ظروف الحياة كما نشكّل الصلصال بأيدينا، تحملنا يوماً فوق السحاب سعادة وهمة، ونتردّى يوماً كما يتردى الحصى من على الجبل، القلة منا من استطاع مقاومة هذه الظروف ومجاراة حلوها ومرها. والكثير منا تردّى وأصبح هائماً ومتخبطاً كما الغريق مع الأمواج العالية جداَ. نبحث عن النجاة والنجاة تهرب منا، لأننا قمنا بالاستغناء عنها سابقاً، والهرب في قاموسها منا ما هو إلا كبرياء لتاء تأنيثها. نسير في الظلام الحالك المسدل على عقولنا بواسطة جبروت جهلنا، وعندما نرى قبس التعلم عمن هو محور حديثنا نقول: نعرف ونعلم تماماً ما يجب فعله، فلسنا بحاجة إلى ذلك القبس!!! أي عزة على التعلم نحياها! ويحنا ولو كان فلذات أكبادنا إحدى ضحاياها؟! من المؤسف عزيزي المربي وعزيزتي المربية، بأن نقطع الأكسجين على ذلك السراج الجميل بتصرفات لا تمت إلى التربية السليمة بصلة، ونجعل ضوءه الوهاج يخبو شيئاً فشيئاً إلى أن يصبح شعلة مشتعلة فشعلة باهتة. استعرض لكم في كتابي (الشعلة الباهتة) مجموعة من القصص التربوية التي أخذت وقتاً في جمعها على أمل بأن تكون الأمل لنا ولأبنائنا أن نحيا حياة طيبة لا تشوبها شائبة، ولا تصبح أسرجتنا الجميلة شعلاً باهتة".
