في الحل والترحال، تصحب الكاتب "عدة" ضرورية، أو هكذا أشعر. عدة الكاتب: قلمه وأوراقه البيضاء، وما يستطيع حمله من كتبه.. فالكتابة، وما يتصل بها من قراءة، هي الشغل الشاغل للكاتب. وحين أجد نفسي أمام مشروع كتابي، يحضرني قول لأديب عربي جاء في سياق حديثه لإحدى الفضائيات العربية. حيث قال: "أكتب لأنني أكره الأوراق البيضاء... فهي تذكرني بأكفان الموتى؟!". وسواء كان ما حملته معي، وأنا في البعد الاضطراري المؤقت عن الوطن، أوراقاً بيضاء، أم أكفان موتى، فإن الثابت لدي هو حاجتي للكتابة وللقراءة أيضاً.. وهكذا كان مشروع هذا الكتاب نواة حية بدأت تنمو في رحم الضرورة الكتابية.
