حُفِظت مئات المعابد في بكين. ولهذه المعابد دلالات غنيّة وقِيَم تاريخية، وفنّية، وعلميّة هامّة. ويأتي كتاب «المعابد والمساجد» من ضمن سلسلة عمارة بكين القديمة. وهو يقدم بشكلٍ رئيسي أبنية المعابد في منطقة بكين. ولمزيد من إلقاء الضوء على هذا الإرث الثقافي الزاخر بالتقاليد الصينية العريقة والسحر الفنّي اللامحدود تمّ اختيار وحدات محفوظة من الإرث النموذجي والتمثيلي من بين مئات من أبنية المعابد الكائنة في بكين وسُجِّلت في هذا الكتاب.
وبناءً عليه، يتدبّر هذا الكتاب عرض وتفسير خصائص الفنّ المعماري والدلالات الضمنية الثقافية بنحوٍ تام من المنظورَين الشامل والجزئي من خلال الجمع بين الكلمات والرسوم والصور الفوتوغرافية. كما أنه يُسجِّل بشكلٍ دقيق أبنية المعابد القديمة المحفوظة والكائنة في بكين.
يشتمل محتوى هذا الكتاب على ملخّص للمعابد القديمة في بكين وأمثلة لأبنية المعابد الكائنة في بكين، كما يُصنَّف القسم المشتمل على أبنية المعابد إلى ثلاث فئات هي العمارة البوذية (بوذية هان والبوذية التبتيّة) و(العمارة الطاوية) و(العمارة الإسلامية)، وقُسِّمت كل فئة إلى عدّة فئات صغيرة ورُتِّبت وِفقاً للتسلسل الزمني ومن ثمّ وِفقاً للمرتبة الأعلى إلى الأدنى.
سيكون هذا الكتاب كما كل كتب سلسلة عمارة بكين القديمة بمثابة سجلّ كتابي، وصُوَري، ورسومي للعمارة التاريخية الممتازة القائمة في بكين حتى اليوم.
