في "ظلال الجفر" يحيي "وليد أحمد دماج" قوة الإنتماء إلى المعتمد الديني وهو يبحث عن جذوره، يدفعه إلى ذلك استبطان سيرة الفرد في التاريخ وعلاقته بالظواهر الدينية، ويبرز ذلك من خلال كمٍ هائل من الشخصيات والأحداث والوقائع التي ينتمي بعضها إلى عالم الإنسان، والبعض الآخر إلى عالم السماء.
ينتمي هذا العمل إلى مخطوط قديم اسمه "الكشف عن الجفر" لمؤلفه جعفر بن منصور اليمن، ويتعلق بعلم غامض شديد التعقيد يخوض في طلاسم الحروف المؤبجدة وأرقامها وعلاقتها بالأبراج والكوامب، وقد رأت أخرى لأصحاب الولاية والراسخين في العلم؛ "الجفر" على ما يرى المؤلف: في أحد جوانبه يتعلق بآلية تبلغ بمن يفهمها القدرة على تأويل المتشابه في القرآن الكريم وفي الكتب السماوية الأخرى.
ومهما يكن من أمر "طلال الجفر" وروايها فهي تحيل إلى تغييب العقل والمنطق في تفسير الأحداث واختيار الأفعال والسلوكيات، ونسبة كل ما يجري للإنسان إلى عالم الغيبيات. وهو ما يجافي السياق الطبيعي لتطور الفهم عند الإنسان عبر سياقات وسيرورات تكمل بعضها بعضاً، ولكن يحسب للروائي أنه اجتهد في نبش التراث وأمعن في تحليله وتقديمه بلغة أدبية ممتعة، لا يعدم من يقرأها من الوقوع على المتعة والفائدة.
يبقى أن نشير أن وليد أحمد دماج –شاعر وقاصَ وروائي من اليمن، حازت روايته "ظلال الجفر" جائزة دبي الثقافية في حقل الرواية عام 2011.
