خاطر يبث فيه شيء من الراحة.. غيابها المفاجئ لا شأن له بعلاقتهما، يجب أن يفكر فيها هي أولاً. فيما يضمن سلامتها.. لا يوجد حتى الآن سبب قوي ليظن أنه قد أصابها مكروه إلا إذا كانت قد قتلت، أو اختطفت.. أدرك أنه، منذ أن استيقظ في الصباح ظلت هذه الفكرة مدفونة في الأعماق كأنه يحول عامداً بينها وبين الصعود إلى وعيه.. أصابه الهلع، أخذ يذرع الحجرة بخطوات سريعة متوترة دون أن يلوي على شيء، جاهد حتى يسيطر على نفسه، من الذي سيختطفها، أو يقتلها، إنه بات متأثراً بمسلسلات التلفزيون الأجنبية التي يشاهدها أحياناً قبل النوم في مصر, مثل هذه الأشياء لا تحدث في مصر.. أو على أقل تقدير لم يسمع عنها. ولكن موقفها من البحث ربما أثار ضدها دوائر ذات نفوذ لا تتردد في حماية أسرارها بكل وسيلة. بأسلوب متميز يلفه عنصر التشويق يسوق المؤلف أحداث حكاية زوج غابت زوجته في ظروف غامضة، يستقبل غيابها بكثير من الحزن الصامت الذي يولد منولوجات داخلية استأثرت بسرديات الرواية.
