جلس القضاة على المنصة ، ونظروا حولهم.. وأخذ المدعي المكان المخصص له على مسافة منهم.. كانت القاعة شبه خالية، لا يوجد فيها سوى جمع صغير من المحامين، وعدد من الصحفيين، وبعض المشاهدين الذين حرصوا على تتبع المحاكمة. وضع رئيس المحكمة ملفاً أمامه، وأخذ يقرأ منه بصوت رتيب، لم أستطع أن ألتقط منه شيئاً، ظل يقرأ مدة بدت لي طويلة، ثم توقف فجأة. اقترب منه الحاجب وسحب مقعده إلى الوراء فوقف، ترك المنصة بخطوات سريعة وتبعه باقي أعضاء المحكمة، ومن ورائهم المدعي.. تلفتت حولي غير مدركة ما حدث، فوجدت الضابط الذي كان يجلس إلى جوارنا متجهاً إلى القفص، قام "خليل" من جلسته، لمحت وجهه الأبيض وسط البزات السود، ثم اختفى. خرجوا بسرعة من الباب الجانبي كأنهم يختطفونه قبل أن يفيق. نظرت إلى "سعيد" بشرته السمراء تحولت فجأة إلى لون الرماد، سألته ما الذي حدث"؟ فلم يجب عليّ، رأيت شفتاه تتحركان في صمت، فأعدت عليه السؤال.. جاءتني كلمة واحدة همس بها فلم أسمعها.. قلت بلهجة غاضبة: "ماذا تقول؟" ينظر إلي في يأس، ونطق الكلمة بوضوح "الإعدام".. دارت المقاعد حولي دورة واحدة سريعة، وبعد ذلك غبت عن الوجود". في روايته "الشبكة" يحاول الروائي ومن خلال شخصياته الكشف عن الصراع الحاد الدائر في مجتمع تمكنت منه قوى غريبة من السيطرة على مصيره الشعب، وفرضت مساراً اختلف عن المسار الذي كان قائماً من قبل. كما يرمز أيضاً. ومن خلال أبطاله الذي يعبر كل منهم عن قصته بلسان حاله، ومن زاويته، إلى قوى جديدة تولد في المجتمع وتبشر بالمستقبل.
