الدكتورة بثينة شعبان (1953 -الآن) تشغل حالياً منصب مستشارة إعلامية للقصر الجمهوري وكانت قد تبوأت منصب وزيرة المغتربين السورية حسب المرسوم الجمهوري الذي أصدره بشار الأسد والقاضي بالتعديل الوزاري في الجمهورية العربية السورية في شباط/فبراير من عام 2006.
حاصلة على شهادة الدكتوراه في اللغة الإنكليزية وآدابها من جامعة ووريك في إنكلترا.
مديرة إدارة الإعلام الخارجي في وزارة الخارجية السورية منذ عام 2002.
أستاذة الشعر والأدب المقارن في قسم اللغة الإنكليزية جامعة دمشق وأستاذة الأدب العالمي في الدراسات العليا في القسم نفسه.
عضو رابطة كيتس وشيلي في الولايات المتحدة صدرت لها العديد من المؤلفات والكتب باللغتين الإنكليزية والعربية.

"لقد عرضت الباحثة الرواية النسوية العربية خلال القرن العشرين بأكمله عبر فرش اقتصادي اجتماعي سياسي نضالي تحرري.. ودمجت الطريقة التاريخية بالمنهج الاستقرائي لكي يتسنى لها أن تدخل شيئاً من التنسيق على هذا الكم الهائل من المادة فتصنّفها في مجموعات بحسب الطابع الغالب على كل مرحلة: مرحلة النضال ضد الاستعمار ومرحلة مقاومة الهزيمة ومرحلة التحرر الاجتماعي، مما خلع معنىً على عملية المسح الشاملة للرواية العربية النسوية خلال القرن العشرين بأكمله، ومن المغرب إلى الكويت. وقد تمكّنت الباحثة خلال عمليتي المسح والتصنيف من إيجاد أجوبة مقنعة عن كثير من الأسئلة الخلافية وأولها السؤال الأساسي الكبير: هل يوجد رواية نسائية عربية؟
إن هذا الكتاب ليس موسوعة عن الرواية النسوية العربية فقط، وإنما تاريخ للوعي النسائي العربي بالفن والمجتمع؛ لهذا تحس وأنت تقرأه بتفتح الوعي واتساعه وتطور الفن وتعقده، وتحس بالرواية العربية تنمو وتتفتح وتتقدم على كل المستويات.
يسجل هذا الكتاب نقطة تحول في تأريخ الأدب العربي المعاصر، ويكمل نظرتنا إلى الرواية العربية شريطة أ، نجد سِفْراً مماثلا له في دراسة الرواية التي كتبها الرجال. ففي ما أعلم لا يوجد كتاب شامل كهذا في ذلك الموضوع."
