وفجأة، وفي بداية هذا العقد، ظهر وباء مخيف وقاتل اكتشف أولاً في الولايات المتحدة الأميركية، وسرعان ما انتشر في العديد من الدول الأخرى حتى وصل إلى الوطن العربي، هذا الوباء يدعى "متلازمة القصور في المناعة المكتسبة" أي الإيدز، وقد استأثر باهتمام كبير من العلماء والباحثين والأطباء والساسة والناس بشكل عام. وقد أدت الأبحاث المكثفة في هذا الميدان إلى فهم عميق لطبيعة هذا الوباء.
والدكتور "سعيد الصايغ" أخذ الباحثين الذين أولوا هذا المرض اهتماماً كبيراً؛ لذلك عنى بوضع هذه الدراسة الشاملة لهذا الموضوع؛ باحثاً في أبواب كتابه العشرة كل جوانب هذا المرض وبلغة عربية سلسة سهلة الفهم، وعلمية واضحة، داعماً إياها بالصور التفصيلية واللوائح، وخاتماً كلا من هذه الأبواب بموجز يشدد فيه على أهم النقاط.
