على نقطة الحدود اللبنانية السورية، في منطقة المصنع، عشرة كيلومترات تقريباً تفصل بين قوى الأمن اللبناني والأمن السوري… سألتني صديقة: يوماً ما، إذا متنا في هذا الجزء من الطريق، هل سندفن في سورية أو في لبنان؟
ثمانية وثلاثون عاماً وأنا أؤمن أنني أنتمي إلى هذه الأرض السورية، فأينما دفنت، فسأكون في سورية مشهور دندش، الذي أورثني حبها جينياً.
اجتزت هذا الطريق، ذهاباً وإياباً، مئات المرات، وفي كل مرة، كنت أشعر كم أنه يشبهني؛ مثله أنا، أنتمي إلى البلدين كليهما، إلى مدينتين لا تشبهان بعضهما بعضاً، لكنني أشبههما… أقف في المنتصف، يشدني الحنين إلى ذكريات الدراسة في البقاع والجامعة في بيروت وسنوات التفتح الأولى. وفي الطرف الآخر قوة جذب، تمارسها دمشق على زائريها حتى الغرباء منهم، تخدّرهم، تؤدي طقوسها السحرية عليهم فيهيمون في شوارعها العتيقة بحثاً عن أنفسهم.
وقّّعت مع هذه المدن عهداً أبدياً لا يسقط بمرور الزمن؛ أنا تعهدت بأن لا أتركها وحيدة، هي وعدتني أن تعود كما كانت وتكتم غيظها ووجعها وعتبها على كل من أحبوها.
في سورية دفنت صديقي، وأنجبت طفلي، لذلك لن تغادرني هذه الأرض؛ هنا أصبح للموت والحياة طعم آخر.
في دمشق تدرك أن “هنا” لا تُقال إلّا لدمشق، لكن أينما كنت على هذه الأرض، فإنّ كل مكان آخر هو هناك.
