إنها رواية مؤثرة تذكرنا بالواقعية الفوقية لجون وندهام الممزوجة بمقدار ضئيل مع مستقبلية الطبقة الكادحة لجورج ارويل. إن هارفي هنا يخلق لنا كابوساً جديراً بتصديقنا فيحول ما يبدو للوهلة موعظة في البيئة إلى شيء آسر وبشكل ساحر.. هذا ما ذكرته صحيفة الغاريدين. أما صحيفة الاندبيندت فتقول إنها رواية تُقرأ بحرية تنساب بشعرية لا يمكن نسيانها، رواية مقلقة وآسرة في الوقت نفسه فيها أصداء العالم المتوحش لوليم بورخس ولكن هارفي هنا روائي فريد من نوعه. هكذا وصفته جريدة التايمز.
