بعد 2005 ، صار العراقي يقتل عراقياً لا يعرفه . ثلاثون سنة ، والسبب نفسه . هنا وهناك ، كان لسان حالنا يقول : " نحن الشباب " ، وكنا نتدرب على القتل . الغزاة أكثر معرفة بغيرتنا الوطنية من آبائنا . لم نرَ إلا قطعة من السماء ، هي التي تظلّل كوخين : كوخي وكوخ عدوّي . لم نرَ من الأرض إلا ما تقع عليه أقدام الناقة التي نسوقها في خطّ ، لا يراه أحد سوانا . ملكنا الأرض ، لأننا لا نرى ، وملكنا السماء ، لأننا لا نسمع سوى النشيد . نحن الشباب ، ولكن ، من غير أن يكون لنا غد . غدنا الممكن الوحيد أن نكون كهولاً ، يائسين ، مدفوعين خارج الطريق ومنسيين . سيكون العلم في غنى عنّا . سيكون الوطن في حاجة إلى قتلة آخرين .
