"... في هذا الكتاب، وغير بعيدٍ عن أجواء مُلبَّدة برائحةِ سجائرَ امبرياليّة، وكلماتِ الأغاني الثَّورية، التي طبعت سبعينيات وثمانينيات القرن الماضي؛ يجلسُ صلاح، المناضلُ اليساريُّ، ليكتُبَ مذكِّرات زوجةِ رئيسهِ السَّابق، في الدائرة الحزبية التي كان يعمل فيها؛ بعدَ شهورٍ من اختفائه. ولتبدأ رحلةٌ متشعِّبةُ المساراتِ في أزمنةٍ أضحت بعيدة، وفي «عَدَن» المدينة التي نأت كثيرًا عن البحر، وأضحت تؤثِّث ذاكرتها بحكاياتِ الهروب واللُّجوء وقصص الأرواح التي تترقب حتفها في كلِّ حين. كلُّ ذلك لا ينسجمُ إلا بالمعمار الروائيّ الذي هندسَهُ الكاتبُ على طريقةِ المعمار اليمني الملتحمِ، بأصالتِه، مع الحداثة.
سنمضي مع صلاح وسناء وجياب ونضال ونورا وعبَّاس وبقطاش وغيرهم، بين الحركة الشيوعية وجبهة الصمود والتصدي، بين موسكو وبراغ وكوبا، وبين اليمن والجزائر والعراق وبيروت، تتجلَّى حركةُ التاريخِ بكلِّ تناقضاتها، بالوشاية والمؤامَرة والتَّصفية، بالنِّضال وأحلام الثَّورة، بالآلام الفظيعة والخراب الإنساني، حيثُ ستبدو الغربان في صورةِ لطخٍ سوداء تنعق طوال اللَّيل، وليُفاجئنا الكاتب بالسُّؤال، الأكثر سورياليّة: «كيف سيكون طعم الرِّفاق في أفواه الغربان وبين مخالبِها، ... مثل الفاكهة؟» ربَّما.
يجدر الإشارة أن هذه الرواية قد وصلت إلى القائمة الطويلة للجائزة العالمية للرواية العربية للعام 2021.
